Some pumpkins and two besties

by Patricia

I spotted the littlest and brightest pumpkins today while trying to kill time and chatted with a nice old lady.

Betty and her companion, Georgia Baby, were out running errands. She saw me lurking around her dog from the grocery store and quickly came out to make sure I wasn’t about to dognap her pet. They’ve had each other’s back for 13 years now. She kept saying that Georgia was her baby and was accused by her daughter, Georgina, to love the dog more than her children. She laughed at that and then whispered that it might possibly be true. :)

Happy Friday! In which I wish for a life coach

by Patricia

I finally get more than a day off this week. Huzzah! Too bad I will be spending it catching up on side job I should have finished a while back. If all goes well, I may also be renting a lens out for the upcoming week! (Hopefully I will get it for Nuit Blanche….fingers crossed.) And if all goes realllly well, I’ll have my life plan figured out before the end of the year. ANYWAY…

These photos were taken a while back in August on a brunch date with my friend Melanie (seen below busily texting on her crackberry) at Bonjour Brioche. I went early to get coffee at Voulez-Vous Cafe ($2 for french press, a great deal!) and stopped by the Leslieville’s Farmers’ Market to get these before heading on over to line up for some really delicious French fares. Amy’s (Amy’s Food Adventures) review is pretty spot on and says most of the things I’ve thought of saying. The baked french toast was fantastic and the croque madame looked pretty divine. I’ll definitely be returning again to try out more of their menu.

First set of photos were taken with my DSLR and the second with the Canon AE-1 with Kodak UltraMax 400 film. What a difference, huh!?

This has been a rather disjointed post…

Montreal Day 3: Brunch at Le Cartet in Old Montreal

by Patricia

Our breakfast at Le Cartet was by the far the healthiest thing we had during our entire trip. We were feeling quite happy with our picks until we eyed the table next to us receive an incredible order of breakfast sausages and potatoes served in a cast iron pan. Within moments of seeing it, I knew right away that this was probably the best thing I never ate. A few months have passed and I still regret not getting it….ughn…. While Leo’s scrambled eggs with asparagus was quite good, as well as my crepes and french toast with apple butter (apple butter!), I’m convinced that there can’t be anything better than breakfast sausage served piping hot in a pan. Nothing.

Happy Tuesday! How do you like your coffee?

by Patricia

How To Make Vietnamese Coffee from High Beam Media on Vimeo.

Here’s a cute video to fight what I foresee will be yet another drab Tuesday. I’d willingly wake up before 7 in the morning for this.

Saying goodbye to summer

by Patricia

On my inaugural bike ride outside of the suburbs. It took Leo two years to convince me that it would be fun, and it was. The light was amazing….siiigh.
