Oh, the long weekend. A bike ride on Sunday had me falling on my butt three times with one scraped knee to show for it, but otherwise, it’s been going pretty well. Leo and I made pizzas on Friday using Jim Lahey’s no knead pizza recipe, and I baked some petite madeleine batter in a whoopie pie pan! I burnt the cakes a bit though. Still edible.

2. NPR, a bit behind, thinks that coffee is the new wine.
3. Canadiana! Gourmet Magazine talks of Newfoundland and St. John’s culinary scene.
4. This Coconut Swirl Bread is relatively easy to make and comes out tasting similar to a brioche. I’ve baked it as a loaf and as little individual buns with chocolate centres.
5. Pho For Four: Food always tastes better when shared with friends, like this big bowl of pho and fresh rolls with iced Jasmine tea. We added a fried rice with shrimp and pineapple afterwards.
