Montreal Day 2 (Part 3): Two famous Montreal staples – Schwartz’s & St-Viateur Bagels

by Patricia

I wish I was in a better mood to write, but, thankfully, there isn’t really much to say about those two places below anyway! We technically were not gonna go to Schwartz’s (Leo had already gone and I’m not big on sandwiches), but were immediately convinced after the foodie next to us at P.D.C., the one who ordered the pig’s head, kept insisting to a fellow dinner to try it. The way he described made it sound too good to pass.

The perfect meat to bread ratio! The lines are long, but the turn around is pretty quick. They also have a separate take out store right next to their sit-in restaurant if you’re in a hurry. We both ordered the smoked beef – tender, soft, mild on spices and surprisingly not as salty as I feared. At $6, I don’t think you’d complain.

I’m not a bagel fan either, but these Montreal bagels weren’t half bad! Definitely prefer them to the ones we buy here…eugh.
