With Pizzeria Libretto in the West and Queen Margherita Pizza in the East (both are expanding – Libretto has already opened their second front on Danforth!), quite frankly, Toronto should be very happy and stop this silly debate about who has the best Neapolitan style pie. Depending on your preferences, both are good, and I’m not big on branding on ‘authenticity’ anyway. Unless you’re a connoisseur, can you really tell the difference? All I know is that nothing brightens a cold day like a colourful margherita pizza.
We chose to share the $20 lunch prix-fixe which came with our choice of antipasti (an arugula salad with pecans, thickly shaved parmesan and balsamic vinegar), a pizza (the Giovanni – arugula, prosciutto, mozzarella and cherry tomatoes), and dessert (affogato). Going against our better judgment, we added an extra pizza (margherita), which we didn’t finish…and took home!
