Green tea & pear tart at Espresso Bar Mercurio on Bloor Street West. We wanted the donuts, but they ran out!

I’ve been dying to try out film for the past few months and finally got my chance this week when my aunt kindly let me borrow her Canon AE-1. I just got back my first roll and in the process of scanning them right now. The two shots above are not the best, but I’m really liking the softness and the bokeh…

The film is from Shoppers Drug Mart, EasyPixel, which is apparently shipped from Japan – and they might actually be made by Fuji. I’m not sure if I quite like where the colours are, a bit too majenta-ish for me, but not bad! I’m happy with how they turned out. Yay!

Great to see your first film shots! If you want more natural colors you may want to try out the professional-grade films like Fuji Pro 400H or Kodak Portra 400.

Thank you! This has made me realize how over-reliant I was on looking at my picture first and then recomposing/re-focusing until I got it right….slowly learning to be patient and think before I shoot now :P Thanks for the tip as well, will definitely look into those films…this is so exciting!
